Who We Are

About Medic Oncall

Our Beginnings

MEDIC ONCALL was established in Australia by Melissa Bennett and Joseph Sgroi in 2001.

At that time, these two experienced medical professionals - Joseph a medical practitioner, and Melissa a healthcare manager - saw a specific need in hospitals for a reliable, professional, nationwide locum recruitment service for doctors; and more than that, a service which understood the particular needs of the medical profession on both sides of the equation - both as employers, and as employees.

Fifteen years later, as one of the longest established medical locum services in Australia, MEDIC ONCALL provides health service providers, government, the corporate sector and public bodies with access to over 25 000 thoroughly screened and credentialed doctors, supplying hundreds of positions everyday throughout Australia.

At the core of our business is medical roster management, both locum and permanent. But we also provide medical practitioners for corporate health programs, training, policy and document development, consultancy, sporting and major events, public speaking and more.

And our sister company VConsult has further diversified into areas of administrative support - providing reception, secretarial and billing services for medical practitioners in whatever form that suits their practice model.

MEDIC ONCALL is always working to improve our services and to set new benchmarks, especially in the areas of quality service delivery and operational efficiency where our standards are internationally acknowledged. We were the first recruiter in Australasia to be certified by the Recruitment Consulting Services Association Delivery Standard and have the highest professional standards rating for medical locum agencies in Australia.

In recognition of our commitment to professionalism and responsible practices, our compliance with international standards in the areas of service delivery and business management is acknowledged by our ISO 9001 certification.

MEDIC ONCALL is also a member of the Association of Medical Recruiters Australia and New Zealand (AMRANZ) and the Recruitment and Consulting Services Association.

The staff are competent and very friendly and I am always offered more shifts than I could possibly want. I have been able to travel around Australia and practice medicine in a huge variety of clinical situations.
